Monthly Meeting Highlights Feb-2025
Monthly Meeting Highlights include approval to spend $32,000 on equipment from the wish list provided by the General Manager Stephen Jackson. A special thanks to our retired RN Anne Sargent for answering our questions regards what equipment was essential. We were all very pleased that Stephen took the time to come to our meeting to discuss his wish list.
A roster is being created for volunteers to assist with the cooking at the Annual Hospital Charity Golf Day. We are expecting 150 players on the day and, thanks to our sponsors, especially our major sponsor Reitsma Constructions, we expect to raise over $30,000 again this year.

Book Fair & Bric-a-brac 2025
After some overnight showers our beloved book Fair was held in brilliant weather. The sun came out and the locals came in and we almost sold out. Many of our customers mentioned that they look forward to our event each year.
There was a great amount of stock including glassware, cooking dishes, vinyl records, blinds carpets and a huge amount of plants and cuttings. Congratulations to our lady volunteers that cooked a range of delicious cakes cookies and fudge. Our jewelry counter received much attention. It was a great day and many thanks to the men that assisted with the tents.

AOOB Support

The Australian Order of Old Bastards is an organisation based on fun, fellowship and joviality coupled with fund raising. The Springwood Branch has been supporting the Springwood Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Mr Ian Wright Secretary of the Australasian Order Of Old Bastards presented Graham Wass President Springwood Hospital Auxiliary with a donation cheque for $2500 raised with the cooperation of the Royal Hotel, through Friday night meat raffles and Saturday morning Sausage sizzle sales. A most welcome donation which will go toward the $50000 commitment by the Auxiliary to Springwood Hospital for an updated defibrillator, 3 falls alarm beds, shower trolley and many smaller items. On top of this the Auxiliary has committed almost $30000 to refurbish and update furnishings in the Hospital’s currently underutilised Reflection Room, creating a comfortable, homely, non-clinical environment for patients, families and carers. Also this year as a new initiative, the Auxiliary is sponsoring one of our dedicated nurses in a Graduate Certificate course in Palliative Care at Flinders University. Volunteers are always needed. Springwood Hospital Auxiliary Charity Golf Day 2023
March 10, 2023 was the 50th Anniversary of the inception of our annual fundraiser for the hospital and few would have foreseen the magnitude the day has become. Our hospital was built from funds raised by the community and today it is still supported by local businesses and citizens of Springwood and the Blue Mountains.
For the volunteers the day started about 6am – sponsors signs stood proud at the entrance to every tee, the groundsmen put the final touches to the course and god gave us the beautiful day that had eluded us the previous year.
The field of 110 men and women eagerly went forward to take on the challenge the course presented. Springwood Motor World provided a car as the major prize for a hole in one on the 11th hole, Murrays Porters Liquor put up $1000 as another hole in one prize and Graze Bistro $500 on the 18th hole. There was much excitement, anticipation and support but unfortunately nobody got the elusive hole in one.
The winning team on the day was Paul & Josh Cabban, Jake Wilkinson and Daniel O’Connor. Runners up were Anthony Machin, David Hogan, Andrew Koma & Paul Sebens. The generosity of associated golf clubs and local businesses ensured that there were a multitude of wonderful prizes and auction items. Our thanks goes out to Jeremy Moss from PRD Real Estate who did a wonderful job as our auctioneer on the day. In the spirit of the day many of the players that won prizes donated them back to be auctioned to raise additional funds. Together with the local support and acts like these we should all be proud of our community.
The day raised over $32,000 and this will be used to fund projects in and around the hospital. In the past the Auxiliary has purchased equipment such as specialised beds, furniture for the comfort of families supporting palliative care patients, pathways and gardens and sponsorship of specialised staff training to name a few.
